Myrick's obituary
Born on October 29, 1936 in Uvalde, Texas as the eldest child of Lois Howard and Myrick Gafford Sr.
Myrick served 3 years in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He attended Vallejo Junior College and earned an Associate’s Degree. Myrick retired after more than 30 years working as an electrical engineer for PG&E in California. He would go on to enjoy his retirement as a dedicated neighborhood watch leader, event organizer, active church member, and loving husband.
Myrick was a gatherer. Family, friends, and neighbors from afar would join in fellowship as he would host live music in his backyard. He was a planter, known to have a green thumb, but also planted seeds of wisdom in people. He was a father. Although he had no blood children of his own, there’s no doubt that he was a father figure to countless youths. He took it upon himself to feed, mentor, and teach essential life lessons to anyone in need. No one was a stranger around Myrick. His legacy is well known as a loving, moral, and dedicated man of God. The joy he brought to this world will never be forgotten. Thank you for all you’ve done Uncle Son, we will always love and admire you.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Lois Howard; father, Myrick M. Gafford Sr.; and brother, Edward M. Gafford Sr. He is survived by his wife, Charlene Gafford; sister, Kitsye (Maceo) Johns; Nephew, Jonathan Love; stepdaughter, Tracy Jackson; and stepson Sean Johnson.
