Myra's obituary

Join us in mourning the loss of Myra Jacqueline Moore, who left us, aged 99, on February 26, 2026. Born on July 20, 1926, she exhibited an indisputable strength, tenderness, and resilience throughout her life. Myra shall forever be remembered as a loving woman who touched countless lives. Whether she was known by loved ones as Myra, Jackie, Mommom, or Momma, she had a way of making anyone in the room with her feel loved.

Myra prided herself of having an extensive family who she cherished and loved deeply. She is survived by daughters Candy, Tammy, and Jennifer, and her sons Jimmy and Bill. Additionally, she is survived by grandchildren Hayley and Jessica, daughters of Jimmy; Shannon, Savannah, Tara, and Joshua, children of Candy; Tyler and Sean, sons of Tammy; Michelle, Holly, Joseph, and Michael, children of Jennifer; Keenan, Megan, Aron, and Lauren, children of Bill. Known for her hospitality and warmth, she additionally is survived by her son Jimmy's close friend Raymond Angell, who was raised like a son to her, as well as her close friend Bernice. Importantly, Myra loved her cats, "the babies": Buffy, Logan "Miniman", Sophie, Prince Pinknose, Pixie, and Midnight. She was never without a cat on her lap or above her head. With such a large family, it is no wonder her heart was so big with so much love to give.

Myra was predeceased by her husband, James Moore Sr., as well as her siblings Tom, Bobby, Tim, and Edna West. She was also preceded in death by her grandson Christopher, and her beloved mother, Virginia West.

Myra's accomplishments were beautiful and vast, with the most remarkable being her legacy of over 30 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was resolute, heartwarming, and always resilient in every aspect of her life. Her legacy, though, will forever be marked by her exceptional southern cooking, her warm hugs, and her undying love. She believed nothing couldn't be fixed by a bowl of some homemade chicken and dumplings and a hot cup of coffee.

Myra's loss will be deeply felt by all those who had the privilege of knowing her. The house will never be the same without the humming of her voice in the kitchen. All those whose lives she touched will dearly miss her. As we celebrate her extraordinary 100-year life, we also remember the love, strength, and light she brought into our lives. May our beloved Myra, Momma, Mommom, rest in peace.
