Myong Sook Kirchhoff, of New Berlin, Wisconsin, affectionately known as “Yobo” by her husband, “Oma” by her grandchildren, and “Mimi” by her friends and coworkers, passed away peacefully on June 16th, 2023 at the age of 88, surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren.

Myong grew up in Seoul, Korea. She married Richard F. Kirchhoff while he was enlisted in the US Army and stationed in Seoul. They were happily married for 61 years. They moved to the United States where she was a loving wife and homemaker. Myong, along with many of her Korean friends, performed in Korean Fan Dance at the Folk Fair in Milwaukee for multiple years. After raising her children, Myong entered the workforce where she was employed by Ward Johnston Company and U.S. Controls.

Myong loved her family and expressed it in many ways, most notably with her cooking skills. Some of Myong’s specialties were bulgogi, yaki mandu, chop chae, kimchee, tempura and pot roast. In addition to cooking, Myong was talented with sewing, knitting and crocheting, which she enjoyed in her spare time.

Myong is survived by her husband, Richard Kirchhoff, four sons, one daughter, 21 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She will be missed deeply by her family: Children Ki-Nam Lee (Myung-Sook Noh), JoAnn (Doug) Haberlein, Walter (Lori) Kirchhoff, Jim (Erin) Kirchhoff, Robert Kirchhoff; grandchildren Jo-Woon Lee (Ami Lee), Seung-ri Lee (Sang-Gil Park), Brandon, Natalie, Madeleine, Emily, Jasmine, Andrew, Alex, Joy, Hannah, Emma, Sam, Grace, Elizabeth, Abby, Sophia, Faith, James, Helen, Henry; and great-grandchildren Ye-yeon Lee, Ye-sung Lee, Ye-halee, and Tae-Oh Park.

A celebration of life in Myong’s honor will be held on Monday, July 3rd 2023 at White Stone Church in Oconomowoc, WI. Visitation will begin at 12:00 pm, followed by a service at 1:30pm.
