My Duyen's obituary
With heavy hearts and deep love, we remember Duyen, whose life, though far too short, was vibrant, generous, and full of meaning.
Duyen was kind, brave, and endlessly giving. She had a natural warmth that made people feel seen and supported. She loved deeply - her family, her friends, her colleagues, and even the animals who seemed instinctively drawn to her gentle spirit. Those who were lucky enough to know her will remember her laughter, her strength, and the way she showed up for others without hesitation.
Duyen was a proud graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz, and continued learning throughout her life, always curious and eager to grow. An adventurous traveler, Duyen lived in the US, Vietnam, and Ecuador. She embraced each place with curiosity and an open heart. Her time serving as an Environmental Educator in the U.S. Peace Corps in Ecuador reflected her lifelong commitment to service, learning, and community.
Helping others was not just something Duyen did - it was who she was. She devoted herself to charitable causes and nonprofit organizations throughout her life, including working with organizations such as Outward Bound and the Ford Foundation. As a mentor, she guided countless underprivileged teenagers into college and beyond, always believing in their potential even when they struggled to see it themselves. She understood that opportunity can change a life, and she worked tirelessly to open doors for others.
Professionally, Duyen also built an accomplished career as a marketing leader in the technology industry. She most recently served as Head of Field Marketing, North America at Brevo in New York City. Over more than 15 years, she helped organizations grow through thoughtful strategy, strong collaboration, and steady leadership. She was respected for her integrity, her ability to bring people together, and her commitment to doing meaningful work. No matter how successful she became, she remained humble and focused on lifting others up.
In her later years, Duyen faced lupus with quiet courage and remarkable strength. She never complained about her health challenges, accepting them as part of her life with grace and dignity. This past year, she underwent a successful kidney transplant and was racing toward better health with renewed hope and determination. Her sudden passing has left her loved ones heartbroken.
Above all, Duyen will be remembered for her heart - her generosity, her resilience, and the countless quiet ways she made the world better. While we grieve her absence, we find comfort in imagining her reunited in heaven with her beloved father and her cherished pug, Baxter. Her life touched many, and her love endures in all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will live on in the lives she changed and in the love she gave so freely.
