Murray's obituary
On Monday February 21, 2022, Murray Alfred Beck “Alfie”, a loving husband and amazing dad, passed away suddenly in a motorcycle accident at the age of 48. Murray was preceded by his father Jules Beck and his mother Elizabeth Beck Harrison. His grandparents George Harrison and Harriet Harrison Smith and Murray Beck & Armida Beck Mancuso. He is also preceded by his nephews Michael & Zachariah Beck and his father-in-law Elwin “Douglas” Fairbanks Jr.
Murray is survived by his loving wife Bridget Beck (Fairbanks) and his 6 year old daughter (his pride and joy) Brooke Beck. Murray is also survived by his three brothers Douglas Beck, Robert Beck & Jules Beck Jr and his sister Tammy Beck Clifford Hamilton. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Barbara (BJ) Fairbanks (Oakley), many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and friends.
Murray was born January 6, 1974 and raised in South Dade Miami FL. Hearing him tell stories of his childhood, he was always adventurous, outside playing and sometimes getting into mischief around the neighborhood (one time getting on the roof of a neighbors house). Murray was active in several sports and played high school football at Miami Southridge Senior High School and graduated from there in 1992. Murray was a Union Ironworker for over 20 plus years, first starting in Miami FL but then traveled the country working and spent a good amount of time working in Boston MA where he made many lifelong friends. In December of 2008 Murray happened to come to Morgantown WV for work and met the love of his life, moving and making WV his home. Murray and I married October 19, 2013 and had our daughter Brooke on March 23, 2015. At that point Brooke became everything to Murray and there wasn't anything Murray wouldn’t do for his daughter and I. Murray enjoyed homeschooling his daughter, providing her with a strong education/foundation.
Murray enjoyed watching UFC and other MMA and similar events. He also enjoyed skiing, hiking, being outside and appreciating the beauty of mother nature and really enjoyed the mountains of WV but missed the tranquility of the ocean that he had grown up with. Murray enjoyed traveling with his family to new places, exploring and always enjoyed checking out the local foods/restaurants. From skydiving in northern PA for our wedding, to zip lining in Denver CO, he was always up for a road trip, exploring and trying new things.
Murray really enjoyed his motorcycle, riding the many curvy and mountainous roads of WV and parts of PA, MD, and OH. I really enjoyed riding with him and finding new places to travel to. He also enjoyed tinkering with his bike and learning how to fix/maintain his bike. He took pride in being able to do his own maintenance on his and my bike. He also was great at fixing anything around the house or with the cars that would break/go wrong. Even when he didn’t know how, he always figured it out and found a way to fix it.
Most of all he was such a caring, loving, supportive husband and father. He had so much love to give and always made sure his girls were the center of his universe. He was the best at giving “tickle bugs” to Brooke and building the best forts with her. There was not a day that went by that we did not know how much he loved us. He was the rock and foundation of this family.
As per Murray's wishes there is not going to be any services planned.
