Mr. James's obituary
James Lancaster attended Edgecombe County Public Schools. Known to everyone as Jitter Bug/Papa. He loved to play spades, watch his favorite teams the Redskins play football and Duke basketball. He was the life of the party. To know him was to love him. Jitter Bug was employed at Thorpe in Greenville for over fifteen years. He loved to cut
grass with his cousin Jimmy and pick up pecans.
James was proceeded in death by one son, Fredrick Long; one grandson, Tyrone Lancaster; one sister, Shirley Parker; two brothers, Wilford Lancaster and Troy Lancaster.
James Lancaster leaves to cherish his memories four sons and five daughters, James Arnold (Margaret) Tarboro, NC, James Lancaster Jr. Rocky Mount, NC, Russell Lancaster Tarboro, NC, Karen Tabron (James) Nashville, NC, Annette Lancaster Rocky Mount, NC, Lee Johnson (Johnny) Oak City, NC, Sandra Brown (Derrick) Woodbridge, VA, James Baines of the home, Sheketa Baines (Kevon) of the home; one daughter in law, Hazel Long Rocky Mount, NC; a god son Demont Dancy; one Aunt, Mary Elizabeth Lucas Rocky Mount, NC; one sister, Dean Williams Rocky Mount, NC; two brothers, Willis Lancaster and Wiley Lancaster both of Rocky Mount, NC; thirty-five grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; a special caregiver Sherricka Harper; and a host of nieces,nephews,cousins, and friends.
A Visitation for Mr. Lancaster will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, with the Funeral Service following the Visitation, beginning at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Greater St. Steven's Church of Christ, 2108 Rosewood Ave, Rocky Mount, NC. The Interment will take place immediately after the Service in Williams-Morris Cemetery in Rocky Mount, NC.
