Mosunmola's obituary
Mosunmola Oronte Akingba (Nee Akintomide)
Mosunmola Maria Akingba (Nee Akintomide) was born on May 10, 1969, to Mr. and Mrs. Akintomide. Her arrival into the family brought immense joy, and she was fondly remembered as a true “ray of sunshine.” Even before her naming ceremony, her mother lovingly called her Oronte, a name that would remain dear to the hearts of those who knew her.
From infancy, Mosunmola possessed a warm and infectious smile that drew people toward her. As a baby and young toddler, her cheerful nature and bright spirit made her adored by everyone who met her.
She began her educational journey at Yewande Memorial Primary School, Surulere, Lagos, where she studied from 1974 and graduated in 1980. She proceeded to New Era Girls Secondary School, Surulere, completing her secondary education in 1985. Known for her brilliance and dedication to learning, Mosunmola continued her studies at School of Basic studies and later proceeded to Yaba College of Technology, where she obtained a Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Food and Nutrition.
Driven by her desire for growth and a better future, Mosunmola later traveled to Britain, where she pursued a career in nursing. However, with her adventurous and determined spirit, she eventually relocated to Chicago, United States, to further her nursing education and career.
In Chicago, Mosunmola’s intelligence, compassion, and professional excellence distinguished her among her colleagues. She quickly earned the respect and admiration of those she worked with, becoming not only a valued nurse but also a beloved friend and colleague.
Mosunmola was truly a people person. She loved engaging with family, friends, and even strangers, always making others feel welcomed and valued. Her generosity and kindness were a reflection of the beautiful soul she possessed. Her radiant smile had the remarkable ability to light up any room and uplift those around her.
To her family and everyone who knew and loved her, Mosunmola Oronte was a source of warmth, kindness, and unwavering love. Her generosity and genuine goodness touched many lives, and she will be deeply missed.
If given the opportunity to choose a family again in another lifetime, her loved ones would choose Mosunmola again and again as a sister and companion.
Though we mourn her passing, we hold onto the hope of reunion.
Goodbye, dear Mosun “Oronte.”
Until we meet again on Resurrection Morning, in Jesus’ name.
