Biography of Elder Moses Omotinugbon

"For me to live is Christ's and to die is gain."

This statement by Apostle Paul captured the life of Elder Moses Bandele Omotinugbon (1939 -2024).

Family Background

He was born into the family of Pa Abraham and Madam Comfort Aina Omotinugbon, of Oke-Agim lineage in Eruku, Kwara State, Nigeria. He was the fourth of five children of his mother. The last child died in the early 60s, while the two sisters died some years back, leaving only him and the senior brother, Pa Amos Ajibola Omotinugbon, who died four days before his own death. He had other siblings from his stepmother.

Education

According to him, his grand-mother sent him to primary school. In 1948, one of his daddy's relatives by name Mr. Adeoye, took him along to Ponyan in Kogi state to continue his primary education. But the young Moses had to run back to Eruku due to traumatic conditions he was facing. He attended Co-operative School in Eruku before he was taken to Omu-Aran Primary School from where he gained admission to G.S.S, Ilorin. He completed his secondary education in December 1958. Harsh financial problems forced him to break his quest for higher education. According to him, a school mate from Oro Ago advised him to take a job as a Probational Teacher in 1959. From there, he went to Katsina Teachers College for his Grade 2 Teachers Certificate.
