We mournfully announce the passing of Monika Jean Peters, 62, of Roanoke Rapids North Carolina. Monika passed away on March 15, 2022, after a silent battle with multiple medical illnesses. She was the firstborn to Henry and Luerena, shining her bright light on March 9, 1960. Monika was a force to be reckoned with from a young age until her final days. Monika excelled in her schooling, graduating in 1978 from Amityville Memorial High School. She joined the United States Army and worked many years for the Veteran Affairs Hospital in the dental department. Although she never married, Monika lived a full and vibrant life with more friends than you could count. Her daughter Mia-Liani, along with her grandchildren (Tre' and Caila), sisters Jocklyn (Dexter, Sr) and Regina,  and a host of nephews, nieces  and cousins meant more to her than words can describe. 

We will miss Monika dearly. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to any local Veteran organizations or sharing books with your local library as she was never without a book in hand or a handful nearby to be read at a moments notice.
