Background
In lieu of flowers or gifts, Monica’s family will accept donations, on her behalf, for an award or scholarship to be named in her honor at Dionne Warwick Institute of Economics and Entrepreneurship, where Monica was a teacher for 32 years. We anticipate that beginning in the 2020-2021 academic year, one or more students or teachers will receive an award, stipend or scholarship. Monica’s family will work with Dionne Warwick Institute to determine the potential use(s) of the award and ways to support students or recognize teaching excellence at Dionne Warwick Institute. Some ideas include a Martin Luther King, Jr., or Black History Month essay contest, a stipend to support a student-in-need, or recognizing excellence and dedication in teaching. The award will honor the contributions of Mrs. Neblett, who was an elementary educator for 40 years, a master teacher, and one of Dionne Warwick Institutes' most dedicated and beloved teachers.
