Monica's obituary

Monica Yvonne Galloway-Coleman

December 28, 1963 – April 22, 2025

With grace, strength, and unwavering faith, Monica Yvonne Galloway-Coleman transitioned peacefully into eternal rest on April 22, 2025, in Dallas, Texas, surrounded by her loved ones. She was 61 years old.

Born on December 28, 1963, Monica lived a purpose-filled life rooted in faith, family, and a steadfast commitment to justice and truth. A proud graduate of Lake Highlands High School, she pursued higher education at El Centro College earning an associate in Government and Politics, then earning a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Texas at Dallas. Her love of learning and passion for advocacy led her to further studies at the UALR William H. Bowmen School of Law. and Concord Law School, where she focused on Contract Law and Civil Rights activism—equipping herself to be both a voice and a shield for her community.

Monica was deeply devoted to her childhood neighborhood, Hamilton Park, a place that shaped her values and instilled a lifelong commitment to excellence, integrity, and community service. She often spoke of Hamilton Park’s enduring influence, saying it taught her what excellence looks like and that we are called to live by God’s principles. That same standard of excellence echoed throughout her life’s journey.

Monica’s impact as an educator was profound. At The Rock Christian Academy and Quanah’s Academy, she nurtured young minds with compassion, discipline, and purpose. In every role, she brought not just knowledge—but wisdom. Her ministry was equally powerful. A gifted preacher and spiritual leader, Monica served faithfully at Christian Chapel Temple of Faith before founding God’s Lights of the World Ministries, where she boldly proclaimed the Gospel and empowered others to walk in the light of Christ.

Monica’s voice carried the unmistakable weight of divine authority. She was a warrior for God—uncompromising, courageous, and unwavering in truth. Through her social platforms and public life, she became a powerful voice for her people and a relentless promoter of God’s Word. Her presence demanded attention, not for personal gain, but to elevate righteousness and stand against injustice. Her mantra remained firm:

“I am going with Jesus no matter what.”

To know Monica was to love her. She was a truth-seeker, a passionate advocate, a devoted wife, a nurturing mother and grandmother, and a pillar of strength to all who crossed her path.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Jeffrey Coleman, and her children: Danielle Youngblood, Lauren Kodiak Stubbs-Woods, Antonio Stubbs, Ashley Nickerson, and Tre Nickerson. She also leaves behind her adored grandchildren: Drake and Dior Youngblood, Donovan and Damaiyah Nickerson.

She is lovingly remembered by her siblings: Lily Lewis, Thomas Galloway, Toni Galloway-Kelley, and Verlancia Galloway, as well as a host of extended family, spiritual sons and daughters, church members, friends, and former students whose lives were transformed by her influence.

Monica’s legacy will forever live on through the lives she uplifted and the faith she carried and shared so boldly. Her voice, spirit, and presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

God saw her fight the good fight and gave her rest from the battlefield!!
