Monica Kern, 75, of Surfside Beach, SC, passed away on January 14, 2023 after a 3 year journey with lung cancer, peacefully, in her home with her husband by her side.

Monica was born on January 11, 1948 to James and Elsie Vary (Nikischer) in Allentown, PA.  She graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1965.  After graduation, she worked as a secretary for a Ritter & Ritter Law office, First National Bank, Ruhmel Contracting and retired as an Office Manager for Dunn Twigger Co LLC.

In  ~1972, she met Raymond, and they wed in 1978, going on to have 2 children, Kristie (Kern)Beaty and Andrew Kern.   After retiring in 2012, Monica and Ray relocated to Surfside Beach, SC in 2013 where she enjoyed spending her time golfing, soaking up the rays at the beach, spending time with friends and family, enjoying wine and social events with "the girls" and traveling. 

Monica was predeceased by her father James Vary and mother Elsie Vary. She is survived by her loving husband Raymond, daughter Kristie Beaty (son-in-law Ryan Beaty), son Andrew Kern (daughter-in-law Brenna Kern), and 3 grandchildren Holand Beaty, Layne Beaty and Nora Kern. Other survivors include sister-in-law Jean Kern, sister-in-law Donna Pontician, brother-in-law Rick Pontician, nephews Jason Kern, Jimmy Allen Wach, and Ryan Pontician.
