Monica's obituary

Born on September 18, 1964, in Patterson, New Jersey to Dolores Allen and Morton Perry. Monica "Cocoa" was the cherished sister of James, John, Rochelle, Marcy, Alyce, Paul, Sandy, Patricia, Derek, Deborah, Mecca, Gregory and Lisa. A proud graduate of West Seattle High School in 1982, furthering her education both at South Seattle Community College and the University of Washington. In 1993, she married the love of her life, Anthony Jackson. Together, they lovingly raised three children: Kenneth Jr., Tyreese, and Tatiana. Monica poured her heart into being the rock and guiding force in their lives.

Monica's spiritual goal was to become a baptized Jehovah's Witness, due to her bible studies and family upbringing.  She dedicated her time to family, community, and career. She was passionate about helping others with personal & professional development. She loved the sun, to relax by the pool, dine at restaurants, vacation, learn, watch tennis, and back anything related to Black excellence. She was always enthusiastic about new experiences and would jump at the chance to spend time with loved ones, especially with her Tate and New Jersey families. Her generosity knew no bounds—her home & ears were always open, and she was there for anyone who needed help. Her presence was a constant source of warmth and positivity.

Serving more than 30 years at Costco, she found great fulfillment in her career as a licensed Optician, where she excelled professionally and became a source of inspiration to many. Monica was not only a devoted wife and mother, but a loving grandmother, aunt, sister, and daughter. Her light will continue to shine through the memories she leaves behind. Her unwavering support and kind spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

After a courageous battle with her health, our beloved Monica Jackson passed away on February 10th, 2025. She is survived by her husband Anthony Jackson, sons Kenneth & Tyreese (Adriana), daughter Tatiana (Isaac), four grandchildren Santana, Eleena, Kyla and Romanté.

Services will be held at Tukwila Community Center on Sunday, March 9th, 2025 at 2pm to 5pm PST. Due to the nature of the event and space limitations of 150 people maximum (including immediate family), we ask that primarily adults who had a close relationship with Monica attend the homegoing ceremony. We respectfully request that small children not be brought to the service, if able. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to our family fund through this website (select "give" or "contribute"). All flower arrangements for her Homecoming have been taken care of.
