Monica Davis, born on May 2, 1968, in Brooklyn, New York, transitioned peacefully on a beautiful day in Mesa, Arizona, surrounded by loved ones on January 11, 2026.
Monica lived a life defined by love, compassion, and service. A spirited and spontaneous soul, she devoted the last 15 years of her life to caring for others as a nurse, a calling that reflected her deep empathy and unwavering dedication to healing those around her. Her warmth, strength, and generosity touched countless lives, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to resonate in the hearts of many.
She was preceded in transition by her beloved mother, Jean Culver. Monica’s memory will be cherished and carried forward by her two sons, Bakari Davis (domestic partner Klarissa Parker) and Jabari Daniels; her grandson, Saeed Baseer; her father, Willy Davis; and her many siblings, sixteen in total, including Warren Davis, with whom she grew up, and Allison, with whom she shared a special bond after reconnecting with fifteen siblings later in life. Monica is also lovingly remembered by numerous extended family members, friends, partner Julian, and lifelong sisters-at-heart Renay Davis and Sonia Henderson.
A virtual memorial service is made available while an in person memorial service will be held and shared with loved ones at a later date in Washington state. Honoring Monica’s wishes, her remains will be cremated and gently released into the ocean, a place that held a special significance to her spirit and journey.
Monica’s love was limitless, her laughter unforgettable, and her presence a gift to all who knew her. Though she has departed from this world, her light continues to guide, comfort, and inspire those she leaves behind.
