200 days have pass by so swiftly since the first case of the Covid-19 Corona Virus was officially reported. To date this pandemic has been the cause of over sixteen thousand lives been cut off by the cold hand of death. Most of these people had to die all alone with no loved ones around them when their final hour in this life closed in on them. Many families have been adversely affected by the trauma of not been able to say goodbye and are still hurting and struggling to come to terms with not having proper closure. Death has come to the Tabata family and we thank God that you were there when in that final hour of our brother Monde when he breathed his last breath. Yet having to come to terms with the reality that Monde will no longer be with us does not diminish the pain that comes with the cold hand of death. But it is my prayer that as we have come to pay our last respects and as the family will say their final goodbyes. That the tributes and the sharing of the precious memories that we share today of our brother Monde will bring a soothing to the pain of the Tabata Family. I have been given the privileged and I count it a great honour to pay tribute on behalf of the SARU Board of which Monde which was a faithful member. Monde was committed to Rugby and extremely concerned about the future of Rugby in the Eastern Cape and Border. He had an extremely great sense of humour , when getting his point across he would sometimes tease the President to get him to see his point of view of the matter. Monde was a good, honest and reliable friend, always to true to himself ,with a huge infectious smile at all times. His professionalism was greatly appreciated in the Rugby fraternity. In closing we hope that the our contribution as SARU to the life and testimony of our experience with Monde will help to alleviate some of the pain as we have tried to honour the role that he played in the world of rugby. We are aware that all the kind words said here today can never take away your pain. Our true hope is in the comfort of a loving God who is the only one that can touch the pain the you as the Tabata family is going through. May each one with the help of God find that as you put your weak hand into His strong hand. He will give you His Peace to face life with out Monde because He is our heavenly father and he knows the pain you going through. We as the Rugby fraternity want to thank the Tabata family for sharing their father with us as he gave sacrificially to advance the game he loved so much. We salute you Monde ,well done good and faithful servant of the game. Rest in peace until we meet again.
A father and friend to all the people he came in contact with. It’s difficult to recall a time I didn’t see him smiling. His words always heartfelt and true to the man that he was. I know his family will beat this as he raised and empowered them to take on all challenges the world would throw at them. I keep them in my prayers, Going to miss seeing you around, lala ngoxolo Tata Ben Jabavu
