Background
In the Slaton family, grandparents set up trusts and savings accounts to donate towards their grandchildren's educations and for college expenses. When Mona's daughter went off to college, her paternal grandfather had set aside bonds and a savings account for her. Although he passed when she was 5, the money he put away for her allowed for her to go to college.
