Mixali's obituary
Mixali (Mike), 54, was a beloved son, husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend whose warmth, love, and generosity touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Born in Crete, Greece, Mixali was deeply proud of his roots and carried the values of hard work, hospitality, and family with him throughout his life. In 1998, he moved to San Diego with the dream of building a better future. He did just that — not only for himself, but for all those around him.
Mixali was the proud and hardworking owner of Angelo’s Burgers in Oceanside, a restaurant he ran with unwavering love and dedication with his wife and children. He worked tirelessly for decades, only recently retiring last year with plans to return back to motherland. Sadly, God had other plans.
Above all, Mixali was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Athena, and their three children: Irene, George, and Despina. He also leaves behind his mother Irini, father George, sister Soula Kourtaki (Zaharias), and brother Leftheris Karandinos, in-laws Antonios & Despina Regakis, his brother- and sister-in-law Louie & Eleni Regakis and Stathi & Anthe Stavropoulos, along with their families.
Mixali’s legacy is one of love, sacrifice, and strength. He will be remembered for his kind heart, his generous spirit, and the countless lives he touched. His absence leaves a hole that can never be filled, but his memory will live on in all who knew and loved him.
