Minna's obituary

Minna Bagley Naujock (DeRossett) passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025 in Pomona, California. Up until the end, Minna cherished her family and friends, smiling at photos, holding the hands of loved ones, and expressing her love with whispered words of encouragement and grace. Minna was born in Pomona, California, to Fred and Malta (Wells) DeRossett on June 28, 1946. As the youngest of four children, Minna was the first of the family to be born in California, and she always relished in the special bond she had with her siblings and parents. Minna picked up various interests and hobbies, winning a regional competition for her yo-yo skills. Minna attended Ganesha High School where she met her first love, Richard Lee Bagley, Jr. (Dick), and graduated from the new Pomona High School. Minna and Dick married and were expecting their first child when Dick was killed in an accident. Several years later, Minna remarried, gaining a new step-son and eventually having a daughter. Minna co-owned F&M Tool and Die, which manufactured components for a variety of items like the Mickey Mouse telephone, Charvel guitars, and multiple NASA space missions. Later, Minna became a teacher for the Pomona Unified School District and taught English as a Second Language in Azusa.

Minna’s love for her family and friends always came first, never missing an opportunity to spend time with the people in her life. Minna enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling, and trap shooting, and she was a consummate hostess known for her incredible cooking. Minna was also an artist at heart, who loved to paint, make crafts, draw, and crochet, and you could always catch her singing or dancing to a song. Minna also loved to play games with family and friends, finding much delight in annihilating her children in Monopoly and later being annihilated at Monopoly by her granddaughter.

Minna’s love and legacy didn’t end with her death. She leaves behind her son, Dick and his wife Gwen, her daughter Jennifer and her husband Orlando, her beloved grand-daughter Sophia, her sister Nella Gentz, and her brother Fred DeRossett. Minna also leaves behind her step-son Matt and his wife Melanie, nieces Stacey Gentz, Kara Olson, and Laura West, and nephew Noah DeRossett, all of whom she loved dearly, as well as numerous friends she felt were family. Minna was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lee Bagley Jr, her brother Gerald, her sister-in-law Linda, her brother-in-law Jerry, her parents, and her niece, Kimberly.

Everyone who knew Minna, from friends and family to the students she taught, were impacted by the warmth of her smile, the joy in her laughter, her faith in God, and the generosity of her spirit. She will be deeply missed.
