Mindy's obituary

Mindy Lou Feder passed away on February 25, 2026, surrounded by family after a long fight with Parkinson’s/MSA.

She was born on June 10, 1960, in Carbondale, IL to Allan and Mary Lou Stocker.

Mindy had a happy childhood and formed many life-long friendships in Batavia, IL. She stayed in the Chicago area after high school and met her husband of 44 years, David Feder. They married on November 27, 1982, started a family, and made several long-distance moves eventually settling in Grand Rapids, MI.

Mindy’s work life reflected her many talents and interests. She started her career in health care and took time to raise her young children at home. After their move to Michigan, she and Dave owned and managed a first aid business for 10 years. Following the sale of that business, she served as the Youth Director at Mayflower Congregational Church taking youth groups on several mission trips to do service work. The later part of her career, Mindy worked in hospitality management. She was well-loved by her coworkers and employees over the years.

Mindy was an epic party planner and a great cook. She loved throwing dinner parties for friends and hosting family for the holidays perfecting every detail. Mindy maintained many high school friendships and was an active member of the reunion committee. She loved reading, doing crosswords, laying in the sun, and animals. Her family and friends will remember her for her kind spirit and infectious laugh.

She is survived by her beloved husband, David Feder; her children, Amy Feder (Alex Rubin) and Patrick Feder (Emily); her siblings, Martha Stocker (Robert Torrisi) and Richard Stocker (Beth); her siblings-in-law Susan Hubbard (Don) and Nancy Atkinson. She is preceded in death by her parents, Allan and Mary Lou Stocker.

A celebration of life will take place at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mission MSA or the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
