Milo's obituary
Milo was born in Lewiston on December 30, 1977, to Michael and Kathy Dobson Warnock, missing his Christmas Day due date by five days. He passed away December 10, 2023, at the Idaho State Corrections Center at Kuna, a victim of homicide while serving a DUI sentence.
Milo grew up in Lewiston and graduated from Lewiston High School in 1996. He subsequently moved to Boise where he became a journeyman sheet metal craftsman. He was employed at YMC of Meridian where he worked as a break operator. He had a gift for sheet metal fabrication and also fashioned many useful household items for himself out of sheet metal. He was a conscientious worker dedicated to his profession and loyal to his employer.
He married Billie Jo Pierce in Boise. The marriage ended in divorce.
A man of many talents and interests, Milo was intelligent and communicative and hoped to be a writer. He was a capable wordsmith, but from childhood, he spelled phonetically, adding to our fun in reading his messages. “Neither Spellcheck nor I know how to spell that word,” he would say. We were close to him and will miss his frequent messages.
An avid reader, he enjoyed a deep think. He was also keyed to information and had a lifelong love of learning. Through his cycling, he became a good bicycle mechanic and even converted an old bicycle into an e-bike. Physical fitness was important to him, both through exercise and nutrition. He would encourage anyone to be fit and sober. He suffered from depression and understood the devastating effects on individuals and families. He would advise any sufferer, “Help is out there – get some.”
Milo was predeceased by his grandparents, Vance and Dorothy Dobson of Orofino and Murray and Bennie Warnock of Camden, Arkansas. He is survived by his son, Mason Warnock, of Boise; his parents of Clarkston; brother Clint Warnock of Lewiston; sister Hallie (Nick) Johnson of Seattle; half-brothers Murray Warnock of Lewiston and Yancey (Kelly) Warnock of Thornton, CO; nieces and nephews, including Silas Johnson, whose birth two years ago brought him much joy. He is also survived by a caring extended family.
Milo was a good-hearted, non-violent person who died as the result of a tragic, senseless assault. In his memory, please support justice, corrections, and mental health reform.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday, January 13, at 2:00 p.m. at Hyatt Place, 1175 S. Silverstone Way in Meridian, Idaho. A private family gathering will take place at the Gilbert Cemetery near Orofino at a later date.
