Millie was the unexpected, last of 5 children. She was a terror & quite a handful as Grandma was tired by this time. Millie was dramatic, emotional, true to her 3 husbands & even socialized w/ the other 2 wives of her 1st husband at his funeral & wake. She loved to cry as much as she loved to laugh!! As a child/adolescence to adulthood she felt that she didn’t get enough affection from her parents. She swore that she would be different in how she loved her children. Even on the worst of days she never failed to tell us that we were loved. I miss her as much as I would miss a limb! I used to tell her that when they lay her in the ground they may as well lay me down with her as I couldn’t possibly wrap my head around her being gone if I was to stay here til it is my turn!! I sure miss you Mom & am honestly looking forward to seeing you again!!! From your Second Child, First Daughter Michelle (Chelle) Chapman
I’m Millie’s oldest daughter. She subscribed to Readers Digest & when it showed up we would take turns reading to each other all the comedic pages first, then move on to the big stories. We would laugh, cry, question things/people/animals & once in a while we’d learn something new. We always closed with the word challenge. She was such a fun Mother & I definitely credit her for many of my better qualities! She was dramatic, emotional, true to her friends & SO funny. Mom loved to laugh & it was infectious!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!
