Mildred's obituary
Mildred "Maxine" Young, a vibrant and dynamic woman, who was equally known as Maxine and preferred Mac, bid farewell to this world on March 18, 2025. Born on July 26, 1942, she spent her life spreading joy and merriment in the lives of those she encountered.
Mildred is survived by her devoted son, Darren Wyche, Sr. and his devoted wife, Cora Wyche, stepson, Ricky Bolden, her sister, Ruby Nevells, brother, James O. Taylor (JoeAnn), sister, Earline Taylor (Alonzo) and brother, Elgin Taylor. She was predeceased by her spouse, Ralph Young, Sr., her mother, Fannie J. Taylor and father, James H. Taylor. In the year 1980, Mildred entered into marital bliss and enjoyed a relationship filled with love and contentment to Ralph Young, Sr.
She was a faithful attendee at the First Baptist Church in Disputanta, Va most of her life, where she found spiritual enrichment and a sense of community. Her life was full of simple yet profound pleasures. She was a great cook, loved coca-cola, fried chicken and butter pecan ice cream, she could often be found engrossed in episodes of 'General Hospital & As The World Turns' .
Mildred had varied interests ranging from singing with First Baptist Church of Disputanta Va, and The James Cleveland Choir, to cheering for her favorite baseball teams and playing BINGO as often as she could. She relished the thrill of motorcycle riding and enjoyed dancing as a recreational activity and form of exercise. Her favorite local spot was the American Legion in Disputanta and she cherished the tranquillity of the beach as her vacation spot.
With a personality larger than life, she was the life and soul of any gathering. Her love for the color red was a reflection of her fiery spirit. Above all, she held her family close to her heart and taught us all lessons in the power of unconditional love and forgiveness. One of her greatest accomplishments was raising her Beloved son, Darren Wyche, Sr.
Mildred leaves behind a rich legacy manifested in her 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, special friends, and family. To know her was to experience the essence of a joyous life. She will forever be remembered as a spirited woman whose life was a celebration of resilience, laughter and love.
