Mildred Marie Holmes "Millie" born October 22, 1920 passed away peacefully just after midnight on Thursday, February 27th, 2020. Anyone who knew Millie knew how much she wanted to make it to 100 and while she narrowly missed that, her spirit continues and lives in all of the lives that she has touched.

Millie was born to Edward Nelson and Anna (Brodene) Nelson on October 22, 1920 in Sweden. They had already had Hilding 5 years before she was born. Prior to leaving Sweden, they had another daughter, Ella. Then they moved to the United States when Millie was a young girl. Their family landed in Michigan where Edward and Anna gave her another sister whose name was Muggie.
Millie completed school and moved to Spokane, Washington where she met Clarence Johnson and they had two beautiful daughters Arleen and Barbara Jean. As sometimes happens in life, Millie and Clarence's paths went separate ways and in the late 70's Millie met Darel and they settled in Renton, WA. While enjoying their time here, they both loved to square dance. Millie also enjoyed tap dancing and just loved to perform in general. Millie and Darel really enjoyed travelling in their motor-home. They loved each other very much and were so happy for a very long time. Unfortunately, Darel passed on December 24, 1999 but Millie was so determined that she continued towards her goal of making it to 100, she lived another 20 years!!

She is survived by a very large legacy including her Sister Muggie, her Daughter, Barbara Jean, her Grandkids, Ronald Jay Eldred Sr., Debrah Jean Eldred, Julie Ann Favaloro, and Christiana Marie Link.
She is also survived by her 10 Great Grandkids Ronnie Jr., Diana Leira, Cory Andrew, Barbara Leilani, Tara Ann, Sean Keith, Detra Marie, Samantha Joy, Jessy Patrice, and Destiny Lea,
her 18 Great Great Grandkids, Dominic Michael, Austin Michael, Maverick Jay, Taylor Velneen, Noel, Mersaidies Leira, Harlee James, Joslyn KaeLani, Jason Jr., Clifton Jr., Malakyhe Keith, Elizabeth Ann, Mia, Nathen Lee, Zierrah AnnMarie, Emilia Marie, Niam Riley, Isabella Mae,
and to a make a 6th generation complete her 1 Great Great Great Grandson Carter Michael. She also is survived by multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her brother, Hilding, Sister Ella, husband, Darel and her daughter Arleen.

A celebration of life will be held on Sat, March 21, 2020 from 1-3pm at the Vintage of Spokane at 43 E Weile.

Her final resting place will be at Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton, WA next to her beloved husband Darel Holmes on Friday, March 27, 2020 at 12:00. Reserved seating, please RSVP to Christiana (509) 951-0336.
