Mrs. Mildred “Milburn” King Gurley, 64, of Marion, S.C., daughter of Mr. Charlie King and the late Fleetie Johnson King passed away on March 09, 1983, after a long illness.
Mildred “Milburn”, born on June 13, 1918 to two loving parents in Georgetown, S.C., and was a bundle of joy from the very beginning. She became aa member of St. John A.M.E. Church at an early age.
Mildred “Milburn” was a dedicated mom to all of her children, raising all seven of them to go on to accomplish great things. Family came first and was above all else to Mildred “Milburn”, a value she instilled in all those around her. The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill.
Mildred “Milburn” was predeceased by her Mother, Fleetie Johnson King, two brothers, Howard King and Willie King, a sister Katie Bridgers, a daughter Cynthia Gurley, and a son, Freddie Gurley.
She is survived by a husband, Mr. Walter Gurley, a father, Mr. Charlie King, Marion, S.C., a sister, Mrs. Annie L. Smith, Pittsburg, PA, four sons: Mr. Walter Gurley, Marion S.C., Mr. George E. Gurley, Mr. Harold Deon Gurley, Marion, S.C., Technical Sergeant Larry J. Gurley, Bossier City, LA,; three daughters: Mrs. Annie Mildred Gurley- Bridgers, Hempstead, N.Y., Mrs. Catherine Gurley-Godfrey, Marion, S.C., and Staff Sergeant Doris V. Gurley, Seymour Johnson AFB, N.C.; four daughters-in-law, two sons-in-law, thirty grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, four nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
Home-Going Celebration of Mrs. Mildred “Milburn” King-Gurley will proceed at Saint John African Methodist Episcopal Church, officiating by the Reverend Robert R. Hooper, Pastor, at 3:30 P.M., Sunday, March 13, 1983, Marion, South Carolina.
