Mike's obituary
Miguel "Mike" Jimenez, 47, originally of Indianapolis, IN, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2022, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Mike grew up alongside his parents in the West Lawn neighborhood in Chicago, a town he loved and never left.
From the family of Mike Jimenez
“Aspire to Inspire before you Expire.” Words that he often spoke to his family and friends.
Mike was a visionary, leader, humanitarian, world traveler, and entrepreneur at heart, always looking for new and exciting business opportunities rather than settling on any one business or profession. He believed in helping others and contributing to a greater purpose than himself. From a young age, he accomplished a significant amount of success by building a radio station, becoming the marketing director of several chambers of commerce nationwide, was a personality and host for several radio stations. He created the first syndicated national computer and technology talk show, became part of the Chicago Boy Scouts council board, met and lived with Jaque Fresco (American Futurist and Social Engineer), who mentioned and thanked Mike in his documentary “Future by Design” (2006) for the History Channel. He became President and Founder of five rotary clubs and was a Master Mason and board member of the Freemasons at the grand lodge Chicago. He was a monarch for a Grotto chapter and the official voice of the Chicago Fire in the early club years at Soldier Field.
Mike also was responsible for the pre-game live radio broadcast of the Chicago Bulls and Chicago White Sox. Mike always believed in helping others and became a teacher at Daley Community College, helping many students through their school struggles and aiding in any personal need. He formed and established Smiles against Cancer with his son at Comers Children Memorial Hospital, collecting toys all year round to deliver them to hundreds of children diagnosed with cancer. He prided himself in volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House Charities, helping many families that needed comfort and support during the care and services for their children. Mike created an International Commerce Convention to make an impact worldwide. As an Expat and representative of Chicago, Mike organized extravagant events for InterNations and filled every event with joy, laughter, and a welcoming atmosphere for everyone that attended.
From the dozens of accolades, Mike’s most significant success and legacy were his three children. Despite being an extrovert, Mike did not share his personal troubles with his health, for he did not want it to be seen as any limitation or burden to everything he put maximum effort into. His final wish was to donate his body to science to help others. There are not enough words to fully capture the vibrance that Mike represented to those he left behind.
Miguel Angel Jimenez is survived by his daughters, Johanna and Rebecca, son Alexander, mother Maria, father Jose, brother Adrian, sister Samira and his five beloved nieces and nephews.
Mike often spoke about wanting no funeral, wanting no sadness but instead saying goodbye the way he loved to live: making sure everyone was having a phenomenal time. In honor of his request, a memorial mass will be held, followed by a celebration of life Gala to represent his grandeur spirit.
He requested we share the following quote upon his death:
“Be ashamed to die until you have scored some victory for humanity.”
Mike was victorious in every way.
