Michelle Hikari Watie, 58, passed away on November 23, 2025, in Lenexa, Kansas.

Born on March 3, 1967, Michelle was the beloved daughter of Akari Watie and Martin Watie. From an early age, she carried a bright spirit and a deep love for the world around her.

Michelle will be remembered for her passion for her community and her reputation as a hardworking, outgoing, and dedicated woman. She brought energy and heart into everything she did, touching the lives of many with her warmth and strength. A devoted Kansas City Chiefs fan, Michelle never missed a home game and cherished the excitement and unity of cheering on her team. She also held a special love for her animals, who brought her joy and companionship throughout her life.

Michelle is survived by her father, Martin Watie; her brother, Joseph Edger Watie; her sister, Alaina S. Mitchel’s; her son, Jordon A. Watie; and her daughter-in-law, Erin R. Watie. She is preceded in death by her mother, Akari Watie.

Fulfilling her wishes, Michelle will be cremated and her ashes spread into the wilderness she loved. There will not be a service at this time, but her family honors her wish that she be remembered for her passion, her kindness, and her loving humor that brought light to others.

May her memory continue to inspire all who knew her.
