It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Michelle Smith (née Milot) on September 16, 2023. Born on April 14, 1950 in Buckingham, Quebec Canada. Michelle's fiery spirit, fierce love, and sassy humor touched the lives of all who knew her.

Michelle was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bruce Smith, her resilient father, Norbert L. Milot, her nurturing mother, Loretta Milot, and her admirable son, Bruce H. Smith. Her infectious smile and steadfast strength, especially during difficult times, persist as a powerful legacy in those who survive her.

Her memory will be forever cherished by her devoted son, Shane Smith, her loving daughter-in-law, Kristen Smith. She was a cherished grandmother to Gabby Smith, Emiley Smith, Rowan Smith, and Bryce Kalinowski each of whom held a special place in her heart. Michelle is also survived by her caring brothers, Thomas, Michael, and Andre Milot, and her supportive sister-in-law, Elisabeth Milot, 3 Nieces, 7 nephews, and 5 great nieces and nephews  

Michelle's life was marked by noteworthy accomplishments and simple pleasures. She was a proud military spouse for 20 years, showcasing her strength and resilience. She adored reading, cooking, shopping, and above all, spending quality time with her family. She had a keen taste for cherry pies and appreciated music from Pink Floyd, the Woodstock Era, and Christian hymns.  One of her happiest moments was witnessing her youngest son Shane Smith marry his wife Kristen in her hospital room before she passed away peacefully.

Her zeal for life was matched only by her commitment to causes close to her heart, notably veterans. Her personality, an enchanting mix of a firecracker spark and demonstrative love, was cherished by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life for Michelle will take place on October 13, 2023, at 3:30 PM at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery Crownsville to honor her beautiful life.  The wake will be followed at Ellie’s place. 

We will remember her as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and child of God.

Michelle's life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and undeterred spirit. Her lessons, love, and laughter will live on in our hearts forever.
