Michelle's obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Michelle "Micky" Phelps, a vibrant spirit full of spunk, silliness, and an unwavering kindness. She was fondly known as Micky, or Shell by many family and friends. Born on April 18, 1950, she passed away on December 1, 2025 at home, with her daughter at her side. She was predeceased by her father, Haskell Phelps, her mother Margaurette Bliesener Phelps and her brother Jeff Phelps. Michelle leaves behind a loving family which brought her immense joy.
She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Segar (Joseph) and grandkids, Tyler Bejcek (Breanna Monette), William Segar (Krista Voelker), Tristen Francis, Addisyn Ganaway and Hadley Ganaway. Great grandson, Rowen Bejcek, bonus daughter Nichole Townsell and bonus granddaughter, Haylee Townsell. As well as her ex- husband and dear friends, Dennis Aldridge (Laura), and many cousins and friends. As a matriarch, she poured her love, wisdom, and strength into her family, epitomizing resilience with her everyday mantra - "Be strong even when the world knocks you down, get up, straighten your crown, keep going".
Michelle was a woman of exquisite tastes, who found her joy in antique shops and shows, collecting crystal and comfort of her favorite TV shows, predominantly the supernatural or fantasy genre. She loved cards and her game days were incomplete without a round or two of Hand and Foot, especially with her dear friend, Nancy Neuenfeldt. Her evenings were often spent in front of the TV, a pastime she greatly relished.
Michelle enjoyed the taste of BBQ ribs and two-bite brownies, all washed down with her choice of Root beer. Of all the places she visited, Puerto Vallarta, México topped her list, a favorite vacation spot she would fondly recount stories about.
Green was her color of choice, one that underlined her lively spirit and youthful energy. Her caring nature extended beyond her family circle. She was an advocate for causes that resonated deeply with her heart, including Pitties Rock Rescue and the PARDEE Cancer Foundation. Her passion for these causes was an embodiment of her boundless compassion and empathy.
A celebration of Michelle's life will be held in the Spring/Summer in Midland, where we will reminisce about her adventurous spirit, her vivacious personality, and her unwavering resilience. Michelle's life was a testament to her strength, as she metamorphosed every fall into a chance to rise and shine brighter. Her presence will be deeply missed, her impact, forever cherished. In lieu of flowers Michelle had asked for people to choose to donate to Pitties Rock Rescue, PayPal: melissa@pittiesrock.org or cashapp: $Melisegar or to PARDEE Cancer Foundation.
