Obituary: Michele Hillstrom (née Bowers)
January 16, 1964 – March 11, 2025
Michele Hillstrom, 61, longtime Ambler, Pennsylvania resident, passed away on March 11, 2025. Born on January 16, 1964, Michele was known for her unwavering dedication to her family, her community, and her work as a reintegration worker, helping adjudicated youth navigate the difficult path to becoming successful young men and women.
Throughout her life, Michele found her greatest joy in being a loving and devoted mother to her children. Her son, Seth Hillstrom, and her late daughter, Jennifer Hillstrom, were the center of her world. Michele’s love, support, and encouragement for her children were unparalleled, and she devoted every moment of her life to ensuring their well-being and success.
In addition to her role as a mother, Michele was a pillar of support for her extended family and friends. She is preceeded in death by her parents Harold and Mary Bowers, daughter Jennifer Lynn Hillstrom, step-brother Scott Miller, and father-in-law Paul Hillstrom. She is survived by her son, Seth, and his wife, Franziska; her sisters, Deborah Glickman and Nicole Hicks; her step-siblings, Louise Midiri, Carole Miller-Loftus; and her many nieces and nephews: Christina, William, Stephen, Dylan, Lisa, James, Daniel, Matthew, Alicia, Harley, John and Jay; her ex-husband Howard Hillstrom and family Rosie, Martha, Linda, Evonne, Joey, Hayley, Daniel, Michael, Lisa, Lauren and Jason. Michele was also deeply loved by her long-time partner, Kenneth Silverwood.
Michele’s legacy is one of selflessness and dedication to others. Her tireless commitment to improving the lives of those around her and her constant desire to serve her family, friends, and community are what defined her. She will be remembered for her warmth, her compassion, and the profound impact she made on everyone who knew her.
A celebration of Michele's life will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 12:00 PM at the Wissahickon Watershed Nature Preserve (Wissahickon Trails), located at 12 Morris, Ambler PA. A reception will follow shortly after at 999 Wentz Rd, Blue Bell, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Michele’s name to organizations that support youth rehabilitation and community service.
