Michele's obituary
Michele Rae Hammond (Maggard), 67, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at her home in Spokane Valley, Washington, on February 8, 2025.
Michele was born on March 21, 1957, in Newark, Ohio, to Helen Benn and Robert Maggard. She pursued higher education with dedication, graduating with honors from Gonzaga University with a teaching degree. Her passion for education led her to a fulfilling career as a special education teacher at Priest River High School, where she devoted over 24 years to supporting and guiding her students.
A loving mother, devoted wife, adored Memaw and loyal friend, Michele cherished her family and friends above all else. She is survived by her daughter Heather Crabb and son-in-law Jared; grandson Gunnar and granddaughter Sailor; her son Robert Hammond and significant other, Vicki Lee; granddaughter Paitynn and grandson Max. She also leaves behind her sister Barbara Riffle and family. Michele was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Hammond; her parents, Helen Benn and Robert Maggard; and her brother Robert Maggard.
A memorial gathering will be held in honor of both Michele and Richard Hammond on March 17, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Priest River Event Center, located at 5399 US 2, Priest River, Idaho, 83856.
If you knew her you couldn't help but love her. Everyone had a nick name for her that fit her perfectly and she loved them all. From Penguin to HammDawg, she was crazy and hilarious and she could make you laugh on your worst day. Everything about her will be deeply missed by those who knew her.
