Mike's obituary
Mike Bassett, age 45 peacefully passed away August 25th, 2025 after a courageous three year battle with an illness. He passed away leaving behind a legacy of strength, passion and unforgettable memories.
Mike was known by many as a true "one man army". He worked hard, played hard, and lived life with intensity and heart. He poured himself into everything he did and this showed through in 2018 when he bought acreage in Hayward, Wisconsin. Mike cleared the land himself, built a cabin, outdoor building, gazebo, and guest cabin and did the landscaping. The "one man army" loved his cabin time with his family where he also coined the nickname "tubing Dad". He would spend hours on the lake crashing the boat through wakes trying to get the girls off the tube smiling the entire time. Mike's great joys were found at the cabin whether he was fishing, tubing, snowmobiling, or ATVing, he felt most alive up there surrounded by nature and the people he loved. He spent hours with the deer. His family watched him change from an advid hunter to a man that took care of the deer on his property and enjoyed lounging in his lawnchair watching them at the salt licks.
Mike had a deep love for his family and dogs, who were constant companions and a big part of his life. He adored his two daughters. Those who knew Mike will remember his strong spirit, his determination, and his passion for living life on his own terms. He leaves behind countless stories, laughter, and memories that will be with us forever.
Mike's favorite saying was "If you're not laughing you're not living." We as a family will take those words and make him proud.
