Michael David Wescott “Mike”, 67, of Belvidere, IL passed on October 30th after fighting a long hard battle with cancer. Mike is survived by his three children Candice (Jeremy) McConnell, Amanda (Tyler) Russell, and Stephanie (Domenic) Grisanzio, his grandchildren Damien Wescott, Jacqueline (Willie) Godwin, Ethan McConnell, Emilio Rodriguez, Addison Peck-Russell, Grayson Russell, and MaggieLynn Austin-Grisanzio and his great grandchildren Dean Swatzell and Lucian Wescott. He was preceded in death by his sister Debra and his brother Mark. Mike was born in Woodstock, IL to Joan and Francis Wescott. He spent much of his childhood living in California where his dad was a career Navy man. Mike worked as a chef for many years in both California and around the Rockford area (Cliffbreakers Banquet Hall, Olympic Tavern). He was a lifelong Greenbay Packers fan and a huge western lover. One of his favorite pastimes was sharing a Miller Light with his buddies and catching a Packers game or a show at a local bar. Mike was a proud grandfather to his “grandbrats” and spent much of his time surrounded by them in his final years. 

Mike’s family plans to host a celebration of life in his honor this upcoming January, details to follow.
