Michael's obituary
Mike is survived by his wife, Brandy Vahl and their two children, Hailey Meyerholz and Jessie Vahl; his mother, Khris Vahl; his sister, Melissa (Eric) Christoffel; and his brother, Jimmy (Alyssa) Vahl; his grandfather, Raymond Forrer, Jr.; his grandmother, Marie Vahl; his father-in-law, Raymond Meyerholz; his mother-in-law, Amy Lundquist; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Lonny Vahl; his grandmother, Cora Forrer; and his grandfather, Ronald Vahl.
He was born on March 30th, 1977 in Sandwich, IL to his parents Lonny and Khris Vahl.
In 1996, Mike graduated from Lincoln Technical Institute in Oak Park, IL with an Associates Degree and an ASE Certification in Automotive and Diesel Technology. He worked in the sanitation industry as a Diesel Technician and ended his career the last (4) years with WastePro USA as a well-established and highly respected Fleet Manager. Mike took great pride in his work and it showed in all that he did.
Mike loved his family with all he had and would do anything for just about anyone. He enjoyed fishing, racing, riding his Harley, hanging out and making people laugh. He was a member of the Sandwich Early Day Engine Club and was a phenomenal cook.
Mike was truly one of a kind and will be greatly missed. He loved the Lord, and though he was a man of few words, he touched the lives of many.
If you would like to join us for a Celebration of Life – an open house is scheduled Saturday, June 27th, 2020, between 1:00–5:00 p.m. at Mike's Mom's (Khris Vahl's) home located at 3845 East 22nd Road in Serena, IL.
** Please feel free to bring a lawn chair if you would like to sit, visit, and reminisce. We would like this to be a time to remember the good times, share stories, and celebrate Mike - he wouldn't have it any other way. Thank you.
