Michael Stephen Smith, (Steve), 61, of Birmingham, Al, passed away on March 30, 2022 peacefully at his home after a long battle with cancer. Steve was born on September 20, 1960 to Zeke and Judy Smith in Philadelphia, PA. Steve is survived by his daughters, Mallory Keener (Mitchell), Meagan Mccayna (Daniel), 2 grandchildren, Kynsleigh and John Michael, Brothers, Scott Smith, Bruce Smith (Kelly), Sister, Scarlett Johnson (Bill) and several nieces and nephews.  Steve preceded in death by his parents, Zeke and Judy Smith.

To know Steve was to love Steve. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of his daughters, Meagan and Mallory, and his two beautiful grandchildren, Kynsleigh and John Michael. Steve was a loving, caring, hardworking, selfless father who never gave up. His battle with cancer never slowed him down or made him fear anything, he always kept his faith and strength and he passed away with the most strength you could ever imagine. He was not afraid to enter the gates of heaven. If you knew Steve you knew his favorite place to be was at the river with his family. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that you donate to Steve’s end of life expense go fund me account to help his daughters provide the memorial he deserved. The family will hold a memorial at a later date.
