We said farewell to a beautiful soul on December 15, 2017 when Michael James Sloan died unexpectedly in an accident.

Friends and family near and far will miss the light that he brought to our lives, and the way he could make anyone feel at home with his sincerity and genuine interest in talking about "the real story of what's going on in your world". Mike will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by many, including his family and chosen-family: Bayley, Maria, Mitch, Michelle, Derek, Weston, Jackson, Katie, Lachlan, Emma, Elizabeth, Lily, Patrick, Dawson, Mark, and Abby. We are better people for having known him, and will carry his lessons with us as we continue to learn from his from his amazing example of how to share your heart and make those around you feel loved and valued.

If there's a way in which Mike will meet up with those who have gone before him, he will undoubtedly be overjoyed to see Suz, Ashton, Josh, Fletcher, and Graham.

We will honour Mike and keep his memory alive by camping in the forest, sitting in the warm glow of a campfire, and singing our hearts out to songs about life and loss and hope and love. We invite those who are missing Mike with us to take a page from his book and send a song to a loved one. Share about how the song reminds you of them, and let them know that thinking of them brings a smile to your face. Let's love each other hard.

Services will be held for Mike in both of his homes, a private one on the west coast and a public one on the east coast. Details will be published here as they become available.
