Michael Carl Scheer passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 11th, 2026, in Syracuse NY. He was 45 years old.

Michael is preceded in death by his brother, Jacob Scheer, and his sister, Kathleen Scheer.

Michael is survived by his children, Samantha, Michael, and Jonathan Scheer; loving wife, Jillian Scheer; parents Christopher and Kathleen Scheer; siblings Christopher, Rosemarie, Sonya, Joshua, and Marylin Scheer; as well as his beloved nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Michael was known for his huge heart, his intelligence, and his humor. He loved to talk for hours about the questions of the universe, the music he adored, the memories he had made, and what he thought brought meaning to a life. He was an easy friend to make, and ensured that everyone he met knew that they mattered. Although he knew many days of struggle, he was a beautiful soul throughout every moment.

An excellent father, he coached his daughters softball teams, cheered for his sons at every hockey tournament, helped with homework, built computers together, provided an ear to listen, words of advice, and always made sure that his children knew they were loved and that he was proud of them.

Michael’s greatest joys in life included spending time with his children and beautiful wife, Jillian Scheer, playing with his many animals, providing minute by minute commentary of sports games, fishing at the lake, researching ancient mysteries, talking to his siblings, and being a rock for his family.

Michael’s love extended far beyond his immediate family, and he touched the lives of many, many people. He will be missed by all, and the world is a bit darker without his presence. We love you Mike.

A memorial service is scheduled for 12-2pm, Thursday, February 19th 2026, at A. Dewitt

Memorial Funeral Home in Syracuse NY. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Michael’s life.
