Michael's obituary
Michael Scott Savee, age 73, passed away on March 23, 2024, in Lakewood, California from complications due to Parkinson’s disease. A Celebration of Life is being held on July 28, 2024, at the El Dorado Park Golf Course Garden Pavillion at 2400 N. Studebaker Rd in Long Beach, California from 2:00 - 6:00 pm. All are welcome.
Michael was born on July 13, 1950, in St. Paul, Minnesota, to Kenneth Newton Savee and Charlotte Anne Heinrich. Michael is survived by his wife, Andrea Lynn Savee, sons John David Savee and Gregory Laurens Savee with his first wife Loretta J Savee, daughters-in-law Margaux and Ellie, grandchildren Ella, Emma, Alyse, and Grant, and brothers Mark Gregory Savee and Timothy John Savee. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, his half-brother Michael Allen Savee, and his half-sister Marilyn Jo Savee Adamovic.
Michael was a dedicated and popular student, graduating from Monte Vista High School in Whittier, California, in 1968. Turning down an acceptance to Harvard, Michael continued his studies locally, obtaining undergraduate and graduate degrees in mathematics from California State University Long Beach (1968-1972) and the University of Southern California (1977-1979). He went on to have a successful career in education, teaching Algebra at Washington and Roosevelt Junior Highs and Mayfair High School before retiring in 2010. He was an award-winning teacher respected by his colleagues and loved by his students for his humor, respect, and kindness.
Michael’s passions included camping in his beloved Joshua Tree National Park, opera and classical music, photography, cooking, crossword puzzles, and gardening.
