In Loving Memory of Michael George Saba, Jr. (Mike)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael George Saba, Jr., affectionately known as Mike, on May 10, 2023. Mike will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and cherished memories that will be treasured forever.
Mike was born in Pennsylvania and moved to Maryland at a young age, where he would go on to build a fulfilling life. He attended Glen Burnie High School and graduated with the class of 1973. During his time at Glen Burnie High, Mike immersed himself in both sports and music, displaying his talents on the tennis court and as a clarinetist.
Following his high school graduation, Mike began working at Westinghouse Aerospace Division, embarking on a career that spanned several decades. Despite his early entry into the workforce, Mike was determined to further his education and pursued night classes at the University of Maryland. In 1988, he proudly graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business/Marketing.
In 1975, Mike was married, and later welcomed three children into the world, Christopher, Douglas, and Sarah.
In 1996, Mike embarked on a new chapter of his life and relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina, where he sought out career opportunities with Coty International and TechStar Group. However, his job brought him back to Maryland in 2003, where he found fulfilling work with Northrop Grumman until his well-deserved retirement in 2020. After retiring, Mike returned to the Raleigh, NC area to be closer to his daughter and two of his grandchildren.
Mike found joy in a variety of hobbies and interests. In his earlier years, he was an avid tennis player and relished in the excitement of watching his children participate in various sports activities. Nature held a special place in his heart, and he found serenity while fishing and crabbing, particularly in the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina. Mike had a deep affection for dogs, especially golden retrievers and Labrador retrievers. He lovingly raised many puppies who became loyal and cherished companions throughout his life.
Mike's memory will forever be cherished by his brother, David, his children, and his six beloved grandchildren: Tyler, Gabe, Bridget, Meara, Will, and Owen.
Mike’s spirit will forever remain in our hearts, and his impact on our lives will never be forgotten.
A Celebration of life for Michael George Saba, Jr. will be held on Friday, July 28th beginning at 4:00pm in Catonsville, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to The National Canine Cancer Foundation or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, as these causes were close to Mike's heart.
