Michael “Mickey”'s obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Scott, who left us on November 12, 2025. Born on October 15, 1931, Michael lived a full and accomplished life before his peaceful departure. His spirit will forever be remembered and cherished by those who knew him.
Michael was a bedrock within his family and community. He is survived by his son, Stephen Scott, his daughter Susan Scott, and his grandsons Zack and Eric Scott. He leaves behind his beloved brother, Frank Kelly, sister Elizabeth Roach, niece Rebecca Roach, nieces Courtney and Jen Kelly, and cousin Angel Maurizzio and her now deceased husband Louie Maurizzio . He also remains in the memories of his ex-wife, Ann Scott, his prior daughter-in-law, Paula Diamond and Husband Bill, and his stepson, David Boyd and wife Thess. He was predeceased by his dear mother, Ann Kelly (former name Maurizzio), father Robert Lynch, and stepfather Frank Kelly, and daughter-in-law Sophia Marie Scott. Their love and lessons remain with him, even in death.
An honorable man, Michael served his country with distinction, earning the Bronze Star Medal on April 7, 1952. His patriotism was only matched by his love for his family and dedication to his causes, which foremost among them was family. His acts of kindness, generosity, and thoughtfulness touched everyone he met, and his lessons of integrity will continue to guide those he left behind.
Michael had a passion for life expressed in the joy he found in all things, from food, to sports and games. He loved Italian sausage and stuffed pork chops and took pleasure in sipping his favorite scotch and soda, from the tallest glass available. A fan of Neil Diamond's music, he also had a fondness for watching western movies. He admired the artistry of sculptures and was an avid supporter of the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Yankees. A keen poker player, Michael loved spending time on the golf course. One of his crowning achievements was scoring a hole in one on the 8th hole in Haverstraw, NY in 1991.
Michael's kindness, generosity, and thoughtfulness touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy will live on in our hearts and in every plate served at the Hilltop Restaurant where he spent many years as Head Chef mastering his craft and bringing people together through his delectable Italian cuisine.
A gathering in his honor will take place on January 30, 2026, at 2:45 pm at Bay Pines National Cemetery, located at 10000 Bay Pines Blvd St. Peterburg, Fl 33708. In lieu of flowers, donations are being requested for the "Korean War Veterans Association of Hudson County." Contributions can be made through https://everloved.com/life-of….
In memory of Michael, we invite you to celebrate his life and the joy, love, and wisdom he imparted during his lifetime. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
