Michael's obituary
Michael Redding Sr, 58, passed April 9th, 2025 in Clearwater, Florida from health complications.
He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on May 29th, 1966. Son to the late Sandra Hogue. He is survived by his wife Lori Redding and his two children Michael Redding Jr and Andrea Redding. His leader dog Crosby and his 3 pet children Pete, Miami and Storm. As well as his siblings Dan Redding, Kimberly Wible, Debbie Hall, Elwanda Hogue, Denise Schenkel, Paula, Teresa and the late Denny, his Uncle Bob as well as his Aunt Rose who is his birthday twin and so many more family and friends who loved him.
Michael graduated from Central High school in 1986 where he defied the odds as a blind man by not only graduating but going on to hold jobs for many years including a 20 year tenure at Verizon Wireless and achieving his associates degree.
Michael was a devoted father and husband who enjoyed listening to True Crime podcasts, attending local baseball games and Crown Royal with his Coca Cola. Michael never let his disability get in the way of his life and often blew people away with his ability to build anything, lead anyone and continue to participate in everything a sighted person would. Including having a paper route as a kid, riding a bike not only by himself but a tandem bike as he grew older with his wife and children, being a scout leader for his son Mike and one time driving a car and promptly running it into a parked police car.
Michael had several leader dogs throughout his life and was a true animal lover. He now rests alongside Luke, Sandy, and Blu.
We will be holding a celebration of life in Florida and Michigan during the summer with more details to follow.
