Michael's obituary
Michael passed away surrounded by love and family on August 1st. He was born on March 19, 1943 in Almont, North Dakota to M.K. Patrick Sr. and Kathleen T. Patrick (Fallgren), and raised in Portland OR. Michael started playing the guitar at the age of 10. In High School he formed a band, The Invaders, with a few buddies, some of whom were his lifelong friends. The band was quite well known as they arrived at their gigs in an old hearse painted with a small viking on the sides. As the guitarist for the almost legendary Invaders, he was instrumental in bringing R&B music to the Portland area. He went on to play the guitar into his 70's.
Michael joined the Air Force in 1963 during the Vietnam conflict. When he returned, he still played music, but not as a career. Michael (Mike) wore many hats; including Finance, Land Developer, and Entrepreneur. Though well traveled, his favorite place was the Pacific NW with its beautiful forests and rivers, especially the North Umpqua. He was an avid sportsman and fly fisherman. He was artistic, creative and hardworking.
Michael is survived by his Daughter Shawn Kathleen Ziettlow (Brian), and Son Scott Michael Patrick, and his only grandchild Hannah Ziettlow. He is also survived by his two sisters; Carolanne Swearingen, and Susan Patrick, as well as his nephews and niece, and their families. If you knew Michael it was to know quite a character and adventurer. Full of knowledge, always with a story to tell. He will be missed dearly.
A service with Military Honors will be held at Willamette National Cemetery on Sept. 20th at 11:30.
