Michael's obituary
Michael P. Olesiuk, 80, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 15, 2025 in Denver Colorado. Born March 23, 1945 in Danville, VA to Peter and Alma Olesiuk. Michael lived a life of service, strength, devotion to family.
Michael proudly served in the United States Air Force for 21 years, retiring in 1986 at Eielson A.F.B Alaska supervisor of Budget and Finance Department. Throughout his career he was recognized for his dedication, integrity, and leadership receiving multiple commendations including Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon.
After retiring from the military, Michael spent over 2 decades in Alaska, where he remained active in the communitee. He played on a men’s summer softball league in Fairbanks, earning the Golden Glove multiple times, and remained a passionate sports fan, particularly of hockey, which he had played in high school and college. He also enjoyed bowling several nights a week and achieved a proud personal milestone by bowling a perfect 300 game.
Micheal’s dedication extended beyond his work and hobbies—he was a loving and supportive father and grandfather. He was actively involved in his daughter Robyn and Gina's horse shows, helping the official with game set up and participating in the adult only Geritol game. In 1999, he returned to Pittsfield, Massachusetts, where he had grown up, and enjoyed helping his brother-in-law work the hayfields of his childhood home in Richmond.
He is survived by his children, Desiree Twardowski (Timothy), Robyn Olesiuk, and Todd Olesiuk; stepdaughter Gina Duval; his beloved grandchildren Nicholas and Madeleine Twardowski, Ethen and Ryen Plunkett; Cody Burke and Kaitlyn Burke. He is also survived by his sister Pamala Manzolini (Roger); his niece Rebecca Manzolini and nephew James Manzolini.
Micheal will be remembered for his quiet strength, sharp sense of humor, generous spirit, and pride in his family. He was an amazing dad, a fantastic grandfather, and a caring presence in the lives of his extended family. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A funeral service with military honors will be held on July 10, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.
