Michael's obituary
Michael Ogg, 68, of Princeton Junction passed away peacefully on March 22, 2023, surrounded by his family and loved ones after a long and hard-fought battle with multiple sclerosis. Michael grew up in Birmingham, UK, although traveled and lived all over the world including the Netherlands, France, Germany, Canada, and the United States. He obtained his Ph.D. in Physics from Oxford University and worked as a professor and researcher in physics and computer science before eventually starting two of his own companies. Michael was a competitive athlete and enjoyed bicycling, cross-country skiing, speed skating, and running. He also was skilled at woodworking and designing circuits, knowledge of which he used to modify his home to make it accessible in the later stages of his disability. Finally, Michael was a passionate advocate for the rights of the disabled. He not only succeeded in enacting local change to modify sidewalks to ADA standards, making his community safe and accessible, he inspired actors at the state and national level to reconsider the distribution of home health services for people with disabilities. Never one to dwell or complain, Michael fought hard for a life of independence and agency. He found meaning and joy in listening to music, reading, auditing classes at Princeton University, and spending time with his daughters and close friends. Michael had a deep appreciation and care for the many home health aides that made his life possible and purposeful, and he found great joy in their company and friendship. Michael will be dearly missed and always remembered by all those whose life he touched, and all those who impacted his.
Michael was predeceased by his mother Gitta Ogg, his father Robert Ogg, and his sisters Alison Ogg and Leslie Forbes. He is survived by his daughters Galen Ogg, Maren Ogg, and Iowah Munters. Michael requested a celebration of life be held in his honor as opposed to traditional funeral services. We request all of Michael’s loved ones contact his daughter Galen at galenmogg@gmail.com for information about the celebration of life on Wednesday, March 29th at 6:00pm.
