Mike's obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael "Mike" O'Brien on March 21, 2025. Known fondly as Mike, he was born on August 19, 1963, and lived a life full of warmth, color, and rich experiences.

Mike met his true love, Mary O'Brien, in the prime of his youth and they were happily married in 1987 at Myrtle Beach, SC. Mary survives him today, along with his niece, Francesca Aker, nephew, Andrew Aker, aunt, Ashley O'Brien, nephew, Phoenix Watson, sister, Tammy Locks, nephew, Kaiden, and niece, Korra Watson, cousin, Matthew More, cousin, Sam More, and friend Jeff James. His family was the world he revolved around. Mike graduated from University of North Carolina with his Bachelor's in PharmD in 1994 and was helping the community as a Pharmacist.

Known for his incredible taste, Mike had a fondness for comforting, simple foods like hot dogs and chili. His favorite drink was a classic Jack and Coke, enjoyed best with good music. He loved listening to The Beatles, AC/DC, KISS, and David Bowie. Mike's favored TV shows were Dexter, Airline, and Chopped, and he was a lifelong fan of the Washington Redskins.

Mike found peace and relaxation outdoors, with fishing and golfing as his beloved recreational activities. Keeping active, he also enjoyed walking and dancing. Mike loved traveling and his favorite vacation destination was the beautiful country of Belize. His world was often painted in his favorite color, Blue.

A man of great character, Mike will be remembered as bubbly, courageous, independent, and sensitive. The best lesson he shared was to "treat people how you want to be treated", a mantra he lived by every day. Among his proudest accomplishments was his marriage to Mary. His kindness and love for others is a legacy that will endure.

Mike O'Brien's life was a testament to his belief in kindness and treating others with respect. His legacy, a beacon of kindness, will live on in the hearts of those he loved and those whom he touched. He will be deeply missed.
