Both Jerry and I so miss Michael's wisdom, humorand his continual search for truth.  A visit with him was always so refreshing and even enlightening.  No doubt he is continuing his search now.  Happy Happy trails dear friend.
Jerry & I so valued Michael's friendship. Often we mourn that we can no longer chat with him.  He was always open to discussions on a very wide range of topics.  The most valuable to us, were his insights into spirituality.  His dry wit was always a joy.  We take solace in the knowledge that he is still on his quest and that he has blessed so many on this plane with his presence.  We light a candle to you today, dear friend, as you SHINE ON.

My brother Tom Shvachta and I (Joan Shvachta Downing) both grew up with Mike at St. Isaac Jogues School, and he is remembered fondly as a School Crossing Guard with a great sense of honor, school and work ethic.  I know Mike was disappointed when he could not get into West Point, but it was their loss--for the world got to know this great and gentle person better.  The world is missing the loss.  I remember going to visit him when he worked in the drug department at Community on Golf Road and saw the Sound of Music with him at the Golf Mill Theater.  Bye, see you later...
Michael's life and teachings will continue to bless all who were honored to know him. May Micheal's loved ones be blessed with healing memories of your happiest times together and the love you gave each other. Wishing You Peace and Strength.
Mike was a lifelong friend and often a ‘sparring partner.’ Always enjoyed our visits and conversations. He was a true ‘seeker’- always exploring and inquiring. His intellect, humor and palpable kindness will be so very missed by my wife, Carol, and myself. Happy trails, dear always friend as you Shine On!

Michael was a life long friend to our family. He was loved and cherished and now is with the love of my life Fran in heaven. They were the truest of friends, rest in peace as Fran would say, My Michael.

Mike was a very good friend of me and my husband, Stephen. We will miss having our portillos dinner with him every weekend. He was a great neighbor and an amazing brother to me. Anything I needed Mike would be there within seconds. We love you Mike. Love Bobbie and Stephen Bailey.

I am so sorry for your loss. Michael was such a wonderful light to this world. My Yoda's light and guidance will be greatly missed. He was my mother's (Fran virgo) best friend and through her I was lucky enough to get to know him. There are so many wonderful things I could say about this guy but there is not enough space to wright it all down so I will just say he will be missed much. His family are in my prayers.

Tim, Mary, Dan, Jack & Sam,

We are so saddened about the loss of your brother and uncle.  We  know he was much more than those titles to you as he was to all those who were blessed by knowing him.  His warmth and genuineness permeated every gathering.  On a personal note,  I always looked forward to seeing him at family doings knowing our conversations would be rich, insightful, engaging and interesting    His countenance, gentleness, integrity, straightforward and generous nature have been a sterling role model for the boys.   He was a special person and will be missed by all of us.  May you be comforted that his spirit and influence lives on with all of us as we recount memories and times spent together.

Sorrowfully,

Heidi, Alex, Kelsey, Megan, Maddie

Dan and Tim,

Our prayers and thoughts are with you and the entire McCann Family on the loss of your brother, Mike. Mike was very proud to continue the Glenview legacy of your great family.

Respectfully,

Bob and Sue Flood and Family

Tim, I am very sorry to hear about the loss of Mike,as your brother Danny broke this shocker to me last night sad to say. I can only imagine the shock to the McCann family. Although its been many years since I have seen brother Mike, my memories of him as we were growing up were always of high regard ,respect and someone I would look up too. Even back  in the day Mike was a person that had drive and ambition. And he achieved much better grades then I did at Not re Dame ,and I'm  sure he had a much better study ethic then I did at the time. To the McCann family, once again my sincere sympathies.
I am heartbroken with the sudden loss of Michael. He was my resource for all information relating to history, dog training, vitamins, exercise.  He was my stalwart support in facing all of life's problems.  Our world will be colder, crueler, lonelier without his warmth and humor.   I will miss him forever.   My heartfelt condolences to his family especially his nephews, his greatest source of pride and joy.
