Michael's obituary

MACKINAW CITY - Michael Lee "Mike" McArthur, age 65, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 11, 2026, in Royal Oak, Michigan, surrounded by his children.

Born on December 23, 1960, in lonia, Michigan, Mike was the son of Robert and Helen McArthur.

He grew up alongside his brothers Mark, Jay, and Rob. Though Rob preceded him in death, he remained a cherished part of Mike's life story.

Mike was a man who found joy in simple pleasures and deep connections. Whether working at Mama Mia's or the Keyhole Bar and Grill, he brought warmth and humor to every shift. His easygoing nature and quick wit made him a friend to many—he had a remarkable ability to strike up conversations with anyone and make them feel like they belonged.

A devoted father and grandfather, Mike's greatest pride was his family. He is lovingly remembered by his children: daughter Vicki and her husband Seth Robinson and their children Kennedy and Tyler; daughter Ashley and her husband Kyle Weatherwax and their children Joseph, Oliver, Ryleigh Faye, and Scarlett, their daughter Lily preceded him in death. His son Carson McArthur; son Shawn McArthur and his wife Emma and their children Taz and Zara; daughter Brandee McArthur and her boyfriend Jacob Niswander. His love for them was unwavering, and he was deeply loved in return.

Mike also leaves behind his brothers Mark and Jay McArthur; his ex-wife Tanya McArthur along with her partner Tim Thompson and daughter Kat Thompson; as well as dear friends Sharon Zulski, Jay, and Fay.

In recent years, Mike developed a keen interest in soccer —diving into the sport with the same enthusiasm he brought to poker nights with friends or cheering on football games. These hobbies were more than pastimes; they were ways he connected with others, shared laughter, and created lasting memories.

Mike's presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew him-his children, grandchildren, extended family members, coworkers, poker buddies, bar regulars, neighbors turned friends. His legacy lives on through the stories shared around kitchen tables or poker tables alike.

A celebration of life will be held in the fall. Details regarding time and location will be announced at a later date.

May Michael's memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire kindness wherever it is needed most.
