I was in 4th and 6th grade with Mike. The line from the obituary, "intellectually gifted, intuitive, funny, and gracious" is
exactly how I remember him. I'm sad to hear of his passing. I wish I could have crossed paths with him again. Condolences to family.

So sorry to hear of Mikes passing. My memories of Mike are of a young boy. Mary Beth was watching the three McAleer boys along with her brother Bill. They were all in our backyard throwing crabapples at a hornets nest. Every one missed except Mike. Perfect throw hit it right in the center! I remember all the boys running for the house with the hornets right behind them. They manage to get in the house, shut the door without any hornets getting in! I still smile thinking about thinking about them. Our prayers are with your family at this vesad time.

He was the older brother of my good friend Patrick. I looked up to him, just like I did my brothers. I saw he was kind, gentle, creative, intelligent, and adventurous. I admired his qualities and now I look back and I am glad that I knew him for the impression he made on me. I felt like he didn’t “try” to be cool, he just was cool. We visited him in North Carolina for spring break and I remember he had such a relaxed and in-the-moment attitude. I felt peaceful and safe in his presence. I remember a few times he would point out a bird, or squirrel, or beautiful tree and it would suddenly take us out of the noisy world to realize the joy and beauty we were missing. Mike McAleer’s goodness will live on through those who knew him.

Many, many prayers for this special family.
I am so sad to hear about Mike’s passing. He was an amazing person that I had the absolute joy of knowing. He ALWAYS had a smile and was such a loving person.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen.

I am saddened to hear of Mike's passing. I knew him best in our younger years at Sidney Fenn through Medina High School. My sympathies go out to his family. My thoughts and prayers are with them in this difficult time. Eternal be his memory.

I literally feel like I grew up at the McAleer household on Lake Medina between 1983 and 1993. My best friend was Mike's brother Ryan, and hence Mike was a constant presence in my life for at least 10 years. I kept up on Mike throughout the years via his brother, but never really kept in touch - but in some way his memory is etched into my mind in the purest stage of his life. I always remember wanting to be like Mike back then. He was cool. He was polite and friendly. He was good looking so he had all the girls attention. He had a following of strong friends around him. But the thing I remember most? The thing that sticks out most in my mind? Funny - its when he fought his brother Ryan one time in the garage at a party ...Ryan TOWERED over him size-wise. But this kid had a heart so big, and packed such a punch beyond his size, I remember thinking "holy moly, I can't believe he just went at it like that!" I literally thought Mike was one of the toughest kids I knew. And I admired him for that...still remember him like that. Sorry to share a stupid story, but it makes me smile.... and its nice to remember somebody at the prime of their lives where all their great attributes shined through before the world and all its harshness works on them ...a small balm to the pain and sadness of the moment.
