Michael's obituary

After 42 days of fighting hard with God by his side Michael Young, left us on September 11, 2025 to rest in the arms of his savior. Born on June 10, 1976, Michael lived a vibrant and impactful life, leaving a lasting legacy of kindness, generosity, and steadfast faith.

Michael is survived by his loving wife, Erin Young, and his cherished children, Julia Gilliam and Max Young. He was a doting grandfather to Grahym Gilliam and held a special place in his heart for his son-in-law, Kagan Gilliam. Also left to remember Michael are his mother, Deberah Berry (Brooks), his sister, Tena Young, his brother, Eric Fulkerson, his sister, Valerie Otis, his brother-in-law, Jeffery Otis, and his sister-in-law, Brienne Barnes. He was predeceased by his beloved grandparents, Mildred and Nathaniel Berry.

Notably serving in the Army, Air Force, and Civil Air Patrol, Michael's professional accomplishments were many, including earning PBA status and competing on a professional level in bowling. He loved his job and the opportunity it gave him to fly. He was also a host dad to several exchange students, reflecting his generous spirit and love for people.

An avid fan of The Office, Michael found joy in his favorite TV shows and films like Top Gun. He loved to travel and found peace in spending quality time with his wife, dog, children, and grandchild. He was a man of many traits, but his character was best described as loving, witty, and funny.

The wisdom Michael imparted to those around him resonates even in his absence. He championed the importance of being strong in faith, living each day as though it was your last, and expressing love to those dear to you rather than assuming they already know.

Michael's legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him. He truly loved others with all he had, and his spirit of compassion and generosity will be deeply missed.
