Mike's obituary
Michael William “Mike” Lent, 76, of Perry Hall, Maryland, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Mike lived a full life marked by curiosity, wit, and deep devotion to his family.
Mike attended Loyola Blakefield for high school and went on to study at Towson State College. He later earned a certification in computer programming from Goucher College, reflecting his lifelong love of learning. He also proudly served in the Merchant Marines.
A man of many passions, Mike was especially known for his enthusiasm for horse racing. He spent countless hours studying “the sheets,” always searching for the next winning insight, and enjoyed placing his bets at Pimlico Race Track. He was an avid Jeopardy! fan, rarely missing an opportunity to test his knowledge, and he had a special place in his heart for the many dogs he loved throughout his life.
Mike will be remembered for his sharp mind and thoughtful presence. His grandson Colin once described him simply as “the smartest guy I know,” a sentiment that captures how many saw and admired him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Janice; his stepdaughter, Erin Gallagher and her husband Dan; his cherished grandchildren, Colin and Caitlin Diiorio; his sisters, Carol and Karen Lent; his brother, Stephen Lent; and several nieces and nephews. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
