Michael's obituary
Michael Lee Wright, lovingly known as “Curly” or simply “Mike,” passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025, in Houston, Texas, after a long illness. He was 65 years old.
Born on January 29, 1960, in Lafayette, Indiana, Mike grew up with a spirit of independence and kindness that stayed with him all his life. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army and later worked for many years as a telephone repairman, a job where his patience, problem-solving, and willingness to help others shined through.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Sherril Wright, and by his beloved wife, Sharon. He is survived by his brothers, Richard Wright and Lorin Wright (wife Julie), his sisters, Julie Wright (partner Jim) and Kara Hill (husband Darren), along with nieces, nephews, and many other loved ones. He also leaves behind his two faithful dogs, Chance and Trixie, who were his constant companions and greatest joy.
Though Mike had a quiet nature, he loved deeply. His pride and joy for many years was his property in Colorado, where he found peace in the mountains and tended to his own little weed farm. He loved the outdoors, valued his privacy, and cherished the simple things in life. Above all, he was known for his kindness—always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a jack of all trades, and you could always call on him for a house repair, a listening ear, or a favor. He loved his church ministry and served it proudly, leaving a legacy of generosity, kindness, and faith. Those of us on earth don’t even know all the amazing things that Mike did to serve others, but Jesus does.
Mike was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. In keeping with his wishes, no public service will be held. Instead, his family will honor him privately and celebrate his life in their own special way.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Magnolia Hospice and Nana’s Respite and Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided during Mike’s final journey.
